“Stan Lee: The Man Behind Marvel”
Iron Man, Spider-Man, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and the Avengers are familiar names to many, but the name Stanley Lieber may not be. Comic book and movie fans of these superheroes may want to check out Bob Batchelor’s “Stan Lee: The Man Behind Marvel” and get a glimpse behind the scenes of the man now known as Stan Lee, the comic book industry, and the history of Marvel Comics. Lee became editor-in-chief of Timely Comics at the early age of 19, had aspired to be a great novelist, and ended up bringing the comic book industry and many of its heroes to life.
“Where the Past Begins: A Writer’s Memoir”
Fans of the bestsellers “The Joy Luck Club” and “Valley of Amazement” will want to check out Amy Tan’s “Where the Past Begins: A Writer’s Memoir.” This book is as captivating as her novels as she reveals how her memories have played into her writing and how she became a bestselling author. Her life has provided plenty of insight for her craft with music, drawing, family relationships and traumas, emotions, and personal health issues all helping to shape her talent for weaving a story.
“In Search of a Prophet: A Spiritual Journey with Kahlil Gibran”
Paul-Gordon Chandler invites the reader to travel with him “In Search of a Prophet: A Spiritual Journey with Kahlil Gibran” to more fully appreciate and understand the life of the author of “The Prophet.” Chandler visits the places Gibran lived and looks at some of his primary works and the backdrop of what was happening at the time that had an influence on his writings and art.
