First things first: it’s long (three hours and nine minutes, to be exact). But Ingmar Bergman’s award-winning Swedish saga, which follows the Ekdahl siblings after the death of their father in 1907, is a masterpiece to be watched for Christmases past, present, and future. Like any Dickensian drama, there’s theatricality at which to marvel here.
